Increase in Exit Tax from Iran 1403/2024

Investigations have revealed that the new rates for exit taxes in Iran

Investigations have revealed that the new rates for exit taxes in Iran for the year 1403 (corresponding to 2023-2024) have been quietly implemented at border crossings without any official announcement.

Travelers have reported a 30% increase in exit taxes at departure points. This comes as a surprise as no official statement regarding the hike in exit fees had been issued beforehand.

Previously, in 1402, the exit tax for leisure trips was 400,000 Tomans for the first trip, 600,000 Tomans for the second trip, and 800,000 Tomans for subsequent trips. These rates remained unchanged until early August 1403, and travelers were paying the 1402 rates.

Recent investigations have shown that the new rates for 1403 have been unofficially communicated to border crossings, and travelers are now required to pay the increased amount. According to the new rates, the exit tax for the first trip is now 520,000 Tomans, 780,000 Tomans for the second trip, and 1,040,000 Tomans for subsequent trips.

The new exit tax rates, which represent a 30% increase in 1403, have also been updated on online platforms, and the new rates are now being charged.
