A Pioneer in Iranian Legal Studies: Dr. Amir Nasser Katouzian
Dr. Amir Nasser Katouzian is undoubtedly a luminary in the field of Iranian law. His extensive works have guided countless jurists and lawyers, earning him widespread respect and admiration. Renowned as the “father of Iranian legal studies,” he has significantly elevated the legal profession through his prolific authorship and dedicated teaching.
Born in Tehran in 1931, Dr. Katouzian began his education at Eqbal Elementary School. He went on to earn a PhD in Law from the University of Tehran in 1960, a groundbreaking achievement as the first individual to attain such a degree from the institution.
Following the Cultural Revolution and subsequent university closures, Dr. Katouzian resigned from his professorship at the University of Tehran to focus on his research and writing.
His contributions to legal literature are substantial, with notable works including:
